Wood Pulp / PET Spunlace Nonwoven Fabric for Industrial Cleaning Wipes

Wood pulp / PET spunlace nonwoven fabric  Is manufactured by Weston for industrial and professional cleaning applications, including machinery oil-wiping cloths, equipment maintenance wipes, and general workshop cleaning rolls. Each production batch is tested in our quality lab against national and international nonwoven testing standards, and a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is issued per batch.

Verified Test Results (Certificate of Analysis, Batch No. 20200716)

The figures below are taken directly from the Certificate of Analysis for production batch 20200716 of Item E-CW3868P. We publish actual tested values, the test method used, and the internal standard range, rather than general marketing descriptions such as "excellent" or "superior," so buyers can evaluate the material on real data.

Note on tensile strength: the cross-direction (CD) dry tensile result for this batch (31.7N) fell below our internal standard range (≥ 36N). We disclose this figure as tested rather than omitting it. Machine-direction (MD) strength for this batch was well above cross-direction strength, which is typical for spunlace fabric, since fiber orientation during hydroentanglement is not perfectly symmetrical. Buyers with applications that depend heavily on cross-direction strength should request the CoA for their specific production batch before ordering at scale.

A full Certificate of Analysis is available on request for any batch we ship. This lets buyers verify composition, weight, and strength data independently rather than relying on our description alone.

Key Applications

Machinery and Equipment Cleaning

Used for wiping oil, grease, and coolant from automotive and industrial machinery during maintenance. The wood pulp content absorbs liquid quickly, while the PET content holds the fabric together when wet, so it does not tear or shed fibers onto clean machined surfaces.

Workshop and Industrial Maintenance

Suitable for general workshop wiping tasks, including degreasing tools, cleaning work surfaces, and wiping down equipment between maintenance cycles.

Printing Industry Cleaning

Can be used for cleaning ink, oil, and solvent residue from printing press components such as blankets and rollers.

Cleanroom-Adjacent and Low-Lint Uses

Because hydroentangled spunlace fabric sheds very little fiber compared to woven cotton rags, this material is also used in settings where loose lint is a concern, such as electronics assembly cleaning and optics wiping. Buyers in cleanroom-classified environments should request lint and particulate test data specific to their cleanliness class, since this CoA does not include cleanroom-grade particulate counts.

Personal Care and Cosmetic Wipes

Higher wood-pulp-ratio versions of this fabric (60–80% wood pulp) are used in facial cleansing wipes and makeup remover wipes, where softness and absorbency are prioritized over tensile strength.

Customization Options

Fiber Ratio: Wood pulp to polyester ratio adjustable from 30:70 to 80:20 depending on whether the application prioritizes strength or absorbency

Alternative Fiber Blends: Wood pulp / PP blends, and tri-fiber blends with viscose, lyocell, or bamboo fiber, available for trial production

Surface Treatment: Hydrophilic finish (faster wetting) or hydrophobic finish (water-repellent) depending on application

Antimicrobial Treatment: Silver ion or zinc oxide treatment available on request

Color and Branding: Pantone color matching and custom embossed patterns, including logo embossing, available for branded wipe products

Quality Assurance and Testing

Every production batch is tested in-house against the standards listed above, and results are recorded in a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis. Test methods follow recognized national and international nonwoven standards, including GB/T 2910 for fiber composition, the ISO 9073 series for basis weight and tensile properties, and FZ/T 64012 for liquid absorption capacity. We provide the CoA for the specific batch shipped, not a generic specification sheet, so buyers can confirm what they are actually receiving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between wood pulp/PET spunlace and wood pulp/PP spunlace fabric?

A: Both are hydroentangled blends of natural wood pulp fiber and a synthetic fiber. PET (polyester) generally gives slightly higher wet strength and better dimensional stability, while PP (polypropylene) is typically lower cost and more chemically resistant to certain solvents. The right choice depends on the cleaning chemicals and mechanical stress the wipe will face in use.

Q: How absorbent is this fabric compared to standard cotton rags?

A: Based on FZ/T 64012 testing, this fabric's liquid absorption capacity tested at 568%, well above the 400% minimum required by the standard. Wood pulp fiber absorbs liquid faster than cotton, though actual in-use performance also depends on basis weight and surface treatment.

Q: Can the wood pulp/polyester ratio be customized for my application?

A: Yes. We support ratios from approximately 30% to 80% wood pulp. Higher polyester content improves tensile strength and chemical resistance for heavy industrial use; higher wood pulp content improves absorbency and biodegradability for lighter-duty or personal care applications.

Q: Is this fabric suitable for food-contact or pharmaceutical cleanroom use?

A: This fabric can be manufactured to food-contact-safe and low-particulate specifications, but the test results in this Certificate of Analysis are for standard industrial-grade fabric only. For food-contact or cleanroom-classified applications, request the specific food-contact certification or particulate test data relevant to your regulatory requirement.

Q: What basis weight (GSM) should I choose?

A: Lighter weights (around 40–60 GSM) suit cosmetic and personal care wipes where softness matters most. Heavier weights (60–80+ GSM) suit industrial oil-wiping and machinery cleaning, where durability under repeated wiping matters more than softness.

Q: Can I get a Certificate of Analysis before placing a bulk order?

A: Yes. We can provide the CoA from a recent production batch, or run a trial batch and provide CoA results specific to your order, so you can verify composition, weight, absorption, and strength data before committing to volume.

Q: Do you provide free samples?

A: Yes, sample kits are available for qualified manufacturers to evaluate before bulk ordering. Contact info@westonmanufacturing.com with your intended application so we can recommend the most relevant configuration to sample.
